Buddha carvings in Pyinkado. Pyinkado is a hard wood from the teak family. Primarily a construction grade timber, used as foundation posts or load bearing beams in Burmese wood houses.

All the carvings are from reclaimed Pyinkado house foundation posts. The base of the posts that were left in the earth for centuries have been painstakingly cleaned and left intact to give character to the piece. Our local craftsmen, of which most are Buddhist, ensure that the face of the Buddha exudes peace and nirvana.

You don’t have to be a Buddhist to appreciate this piece.
